When comparing H1 sales with those of the same period of the pre-pandemic years, however, they are still more than a quarter higher. The weakest year for the German sawmill industry was the first half of 2009 when €1.4 billion in sales were generated.

In the current year, there has not been a single month in which sales were higher than in the same respective period of 2023. In June, sales were €24 million below the level recorded in June 2023.
