Stora Enso's solid wood sales fell 10% in 4Q 2014

Stora Enso's solid wood division "Building and Living" posted sales of €415 million in the 4Q 2014 – 11% less than in the same period the previous year. The delivery volume also decreased by 11% to 1.07 million m³. The median sales price rose 0.5% to €389/m³. Operating EBIT, however, plunged 47% to € 10 million – mainly an outflow of weaker demand in Japan and the MENA region. In addition, the Finns failed to entirely pass on higher purchase prices to customers.

For the full year 2014, Building and Living sales dropped by 4.7% to €1.78 billion. Still, operating EBIT increased by 19% to €89 million. The EBIT margin climbed from 4% in 2013 to 5% last year.
