Sawlog price index with an increase

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the Austrian price index for spruce/fir sawlogs saw a slight increase compared to the third quarter and a marked one year on year.

The association Land & Forst Betriebe Österreich reports an index value of 148.9% for spruce/fir sawlogs in the fourth quarter of 2024 (base: Q1 2009 = 100%). Compared to the third quarter, the price index saw an increase of 4.6 percentage points. Year on year, it rose by 12.3 percentage points.

Since 2003, Land & Forst Betriebe Österreich has been managing the price index together with the Holzkurier. Dr. Michael Hauser from the Vienna University of Business and Economics does the quarterly calculations for it.
