The sawmill and timber construction industries are faced with the challenge of an increasingly different composition of forests. Hardwoods such as beech, ash and birch therefore need to find their way into load-bearing structures as soon as possible. While research on this topic often remains theoretical, ARS Starkholzplatten, Roßhaupten/DE, shows how it can be done in practice. After years of intensive development work and overcoming several technological hurdles, a hardwood-based mass timber panel successfully premiered in the first construction projects – and is now headed for official approval.
