“We have a full ecosystem ready to change the way we build, an experienced team as well as design and engineering support from inspiration to installation. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities produce CLT and glulam according to clearly defined specifications. In addition, we use supply chain tracing to document sustainability and to implement wildfire reduction measures. We also maintain partnerships to train and develop a workforce that will frame new opportunities for our state,” Scott Ehlert, founder and CEO of Fabric, said in a statement.
Fabric Mass Timber wants to create synergies along the entire value chain. In raw material supply, for example, the company plans to work closely with CalFire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the U.S. Forest Service. Among other raw materials, Fabric Mass Timber wants to use wood harvested during thinning operations aimed at preventing wildfires for its CLT production.
Production in Redding is scheduled to start in early 2028, with an initial annual production output of around 60,000 m³ of CLT and 40,000 m³ of glulam. As Ehlert informs, there is also the possibility to expand glued timber production by another 25,000 m³ a year. Slovene machine manufacturer Ledinek will supply the machines to Fabric Mass Timber. The launch of a CNC production facility and the inauguration of Fabric Mass Timber’s headquarters in Oakland, California, is planned for the end of 2026.
