Italian imports hit a record level

From January to July, Italy imported 422,000 m³ of laminated timber, more than in any comparable period before. Imports grew by 12% compared to first seven months of 2024.

Industry experts attribute this major increase to short-term public subsidies that are only granted until the end of the year.

Main supplier Austria increased its deliveries to Italy by 8% to 349,000 m³.

Other important suppliers of glulam and CLT included Germany (26,000 m³; +66%), Slovakia (11,000 m³; +410%), and Latvia (8,200 m³; -14%), as figures published by Eurostat show.
