In May, price index of solid wood for pallets reached 428.1% (base: 01/2005 = 100%), up by 2.2 percentage points compared to April and by as many as 65.4 points compared to May 2024.
A more moderate development can be observed in the price index of solid wood for packaging. Here, a month-on-month increase of 2.7 points to 228.5% in May was recorded. Year on year, the index value rose by 25.8 percentage and thus at a much lower rate than the price index of solid wood for pallets.
When it comes to wood-based materials, purchasing prices have increased again lately. OSB was up by 2.8 percentage points compared to April, which is the biggest increase of the two products. According to the German wood packaging, pallet and export packaging association (HPE), the price index is at 112.9% in May.
The price index of plywood for packaging, on the other hand, remained mostly stable compared to the previous month. In May, an index value of 198.9% is reported, which corresponds to a moderate year-on-year increase of 10.7 points.
