Growing laminated timber exports

Article by Jakob Wassermann (translated by Eva Guzely) | 10.02.2025 - 09:26

Italy was the most important foreign market with a trade volume of 661,000 m³ and a 7% increase compared to 2023. Laminated timber exports to Germany remained stable at 360,000 m³, whereas those to Switzerland increased by 7% to 135,000 m³.

Double-digit increases were also recorded in deliveries to Spain (94,000 m³; +12%) and Japan (93,000 m³; +30%). Exports to Spain have never been at a higher level than in the first eleven months of 2024. In the case of Japan, on the other hand, last year was the second weakest in terms of volumes traded since 2004. Figures published by Statistik Austria show that a smaller export volume was recorded only in 2023.

Meanwhile, glulam and CLT exports to Great Britain (33,000 m³; +2%) and the Netherlands (24,000 m³; -1%) hardly changed at all compared to the period January to November 2023. Deliveries to Belgium even remained exactly the same (26,000 m³).

As always, you can find more detailed figures in the Datacube.
