Compared to April, assessments have become more moderate, with fewer of them being attributed to the upper and lower end of the scale, as Franz-Josef Lückge analyzes. He researches the prices and carries out the survey on market assessments among member companies of the association Überwachungsgemeinschaft KVH e.V., Wuppertal.
Contrary to the Holzkurier, Lückge found that prices had risen – with one exception. He noted that these increases may have been slightly exaggerated, as the calculations for April were based on a slightly lower reporting activity by the companies and showed a slight price reduction. The price index for bar goods sold to timber trade companies (spruce/fir, non-visible quality solid structural timber, average value 2014 = 100%) was the only one to record a slight 0.3% decrease to 113.7% in May.
Stock levels of the end product remained unchanged at 75% of the producers and decreased at 25% of the respondents. As for the raw wood used for the production of solid structural timber, 50% of manufacturers reported a decrease in stock levels. At 44% of the surveyed companies, stock levels have remained unchanged, while an increase was reported by 6% of respondents.

Method: Data are collected on behalf of the association Überwachungsgemeinschaft Konstruktionsvollholz. The indices are calculated using a weighted market basket. The average value of 2014 is the base. The companies which participate in the survey account for a production volume of around 1 million m³ a year.
