Panel production on the decrease but OSB with an upward trend

In 2023, the member companies of the European Panel Federation (EPF) recorded a 6.3% year-on-year decrease in their total production output.

Compared to 2022, decreases were recorded in the production volumes of nearly all types of panels. In 2023, 56.5 million m³ of wood-based panels were produced in Europe. Chipboard production was down by 5% to 30.9 million m³, and the MDF output decreased by 11% to 11.1 million m³. 

OSB was the only product to see a slight increase in output last year (+2% to 6.6 million m³).
