The biggest decrease was recorded in the price of solid wood for packaging. The index value fell by 3.4 percentage points month on month to 212.1% in May (January 2005 = 100%).
The price for solid wood, which is used for wood pallets, remained somewhat more stable. However, this price index, too, saw a decrease of 2.5 percentage points compared to April, resulting in an index value of 323.7% in May.
The price index of plywood for packaging was at 218.6% in May, and was thus down by 2% compared to the previous month.
OSB has also continued its downward trend. The price of this product has not increased in over half a year. In May, the index value fell by a further 1.5 percentage points month on month, and is now at 117.4%. For comparison: In September last year, the price index of plywood was still at 156.2 percentage points.
The index values are published monthly by the German Wood Packaging, Pallet and Export Packaging Association (HPE).
