The German wood packaging, pallet and export packaging association (HPE) recently published the latest data on the HPE’s wood price index. In August, the average index value of all four products fell by 296 percentage points month on month, to currently 273 percentage points. When it comes to plywood and OSB for packaging, the index value was down by three and one point, respectively, which corresponds to a decrease of 1% each.
In the long-term comparison, the index for plywood for packaging is showing a slight upward trend. In the months from March to August, it has risen by 1% to 270 points. The index values of solid wood for pallets, solid wood for packaging as well as OSB for packaging fell sharply in the same period. Solid wood for packaging holds the sad title with a decrease of 15%, which brings the index value of the product to around 238 points.
