The order backlog decreased at 83% of manufacturers, while 8% recorded an increase in June and the same percentage reported an unchanged order backlog.

The purchase price index (spruce/fir, kiln-dried) fell by another 9% in June to 174.2%. Year on year, a decrease of 26.6% was recorded.

The sales price indices (spruce/fir; non-visible; 100% = average value of 2014) were down by 6 to 9% and reached around 160% in June. Compared to the same month of 2021, the index values fell by 30 to 37%.

42% of manufacturers reported decreasing stock levels of raw wood, while they remained unchanged at 33% of the respondents and were on the increase at 25% of them. Stock levels of the end product, on the other hand, remained unchanged at 75% of KVH manufacturers. Only 17% recorded a rise and 8% a fall in stock levels of solid structural timber.

Franz-Josef Lückge researches prices and figures on behalf of the association Überwachungsgemeinschaft Konstruktionsvollholz. The results of the survey are in line with the market conversations the Holzkurier had with manufacturers of solid structural timber at the end of June. At the time, the majority of manufacturers reported a sharp decrease in demand and curtailments of production. Bigger volumes are said to be difficult to sell at the moment – independently of the price.
