In 2019, the Holzkurier reported in detail on the newly established company Cltech in Kaiserslautern which specializes in timber engineering, timber frame and mass timber construction using CLT. For a while, company has been buying raw cross-laminated timber elements only.

Now, Cltech has announced its plans to invest another €25 to €30 million in a cross-laminated timber production at the same site. In an interview with the Holzkurier, co-founder Jürgen Gottschall stated that “the situation on the timber market last year” was the main factor in the decision to invest.

Construction of the production hall is to start this year, while the start of production is scheduled for 2024. Gottschall did not want to disclose any further details, such as on the planned capacity or the machine equipment, for the time being.
