The increase in exports can not only be explained with the lockdown in 2020. 510,000 m³ are a new record volume. Compared to the five-year average, export grew by a considerable 25%.
Italy bought significantly more laminated timber from Austria (191,000 m³; +19%), as figures published by Statistik Austria show. Shipments to the other main importing countries saw single-digit increases. Japan is an exception: Both lumber and laminated timber exports decreased in the first quarter of 2021.
