The majority of export revenues still came from Europe (63%), even though its importance is waning. China's share increased to 22% in 2017, as the Natural Resources Institute Finland informs.
The export value of products from the pulp and paper industry totaled €9.08 bn. In real terms, the value of exports lost 2% compared to the previous year. The exports of the wood materials industry amounted to €2.9 bn. which in real terms is an increase of 6% yoy.
Finland imported 8.68 m. m³ of wood last year. The import volume dropped 11% compared to the previous year. Pulp accounted for 56%, wood chips 31% and roundwood 8%. Compared to the previous year, the volume of imported wood chips gained 7%.
