UK timber imports are on the increase

Great Britain's solid wood and plywood imports showed a rise of 16%, and for panel materials the increase even amounted to 23%. Import volumes of softwood grew 46% totaling 119,000 m³ invigorated by increases from China and Brazil. Hardwood imports climbed 52% to a total of 100,000 m³ with the largest increases coming from Finland and Norway. Lumber products gained 10% with planed goods contributing a plus of 42% in particular. Imports of particle board products rose 33% to 147,000 m³.

OSB imports dropped 10% to 46,000 m³ while MDF products increased by 48% totaling 131,000 m³ with large volumes coming from Germany and Poland.
