Construction permits for the erection of new buildings and construction and construction measures on existing buildings and apartments in the housing and non-housing sectors lost 2% with a total of 136,620 permits (2018: 139,600).
In terms of new constructions with one apartment, Germany registered a slight increase of 3% with a total of 37,250 between January and May (2018: 36,320 permits).
The sector of new constructions with two apartments saw a slight decline of 4% with the total dropping from 8840 (2018) to 8460 units.
Another decrease was observed for permits for three and more apartments from 71,730 (2018) to 68,620 (-4%).
A significant loss was suffered by the dormitory sector: -21% from 4840 to 3800 permits.
