After what, in retrospect, was not such a bad start to the year, Easter and Pentecost brought disillusionment. Instead of a further upswing, demand seemed to stagnate. So far, the Central European sawmill industry has not been able to offset this change in the market one-to-one with production cutbacks. It seems as if sawmills reacted too late. Now, full warehouses are putting pressure on them.
