International softwood lumber markets remain under considerable pressure. It is difficult to find any truly reliable positive market signals. The overall sentiment remains pessimistic. In early July, there was a brief glimmer of hope that hostilities in Iran might end soon and that the Strait of Hormuz could finally be open again. Six weeks later, though, this does not appear to be the case.
