Article by Jakob Wassermann (translated by Eva Guzely) | 06.07.2026 - 09:01

In the first quarter, a total of 4.3 million m³ of softwood lumber (incl. planed timber) were produced in Germany, as figures published by Destatis show. Year on year, this corresponds to a decrease of 14%, or 706,000 m³. A similar decline was recorded between 2024 and 2025. Within two years, softwood lumber production output thus decreased by around 1.4 million m³ in the first quarter.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, output was down by 378,000 m³, or 8%.
