As figures published by Destatis show, Asian markets are gaining in importance: China remained the most important buyer with a trade volume of 84,000 m³. The country increased its imports by 6% compared to 2024. Vietnam also purchased much bigger volumes of German beech lumber (16,000 m³; +66%), as did India (12,000 m³; +12%).

The USA, the second-largest export market, imported 41,000 m³, i.e. 1.5% more than in the first nine months of 2024.

In Europe, there is a mixed picture when it comes to demand. France reduced its imports by 24% to 9,000 m³ and Italy by 18.5% to 8,000 m³. Poland purchased 25,000 m³ of German beech lumber, i.e. 4% less than last year. Meanwhile, strong growth was recorded in trade with Belgium (9,000 m³; +69%). The UK slightly increased its imports by 2% to 7,000 m³.
