The Holzkurier observed the biggest increase for 17-mm fresh sideboards in Italy, i.e. of €11/m³ compared to August, meaning that the price now ranges from €225 to €240/m³ (delivered to Milan). Prices of other wood products increased as well. Dry, visible-quality glulam lamellas are up by €7/m³ and cost €312 to €330/m³ in September. The price of CE roof slats increased by €6/m³ to a level between €375 and €390/m³.
What is remarkable is that raw lumber for solid structural timber is currently above the price level of visible-quality lamellas for glulam – a first. Another first is the fact that glulam lamellas are now cheaper than Nordic wood products. Despite the fact that prices for Scandinavian lamellas are around €10/m³ lower, glulam producers continue to rely heavily on Central European suppliers due to their reliability and the precise dimensions of the products (see article Sawmills curtail cutting).
