Hampton plans to build a 375,000 sq ft-big softwood sawmill in Allendale County, South Carolina, for US-$225 million. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, and production is to start in early 2027. The mill will primarily process Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) into framing lumber. The mill is expected to create up to 140 new jobs.
In recent years, Hampton Lumber has grown primarily through acquisitions. Last year, the takeover of RedBuilt marked the company’s entry into the production of glue-laminated and cross-laminated timber, LVL, I-joists, and wall elements. In 2022, Hampton acquired the lumber processing company Idaho Timber, and in 2019, it took over the Fort St. James Mill from Conifex.
