Finland’s main customer Egypt bought 540,000 m³ of softwood lumber in the months from January to July, which is 6% less compared to last year.
Japan ranks second with around 510,000 m³ (+18%). The previous number two, Great Britain, received a total of only 440,000 m³ (-34%) in the first seven months of 2022, which corresponds to a year-on-year decrease of 34%. As a result, Great Britain slipped down to third place.
In general, Finland’s softwood lumber exports are distributed quite evenly among the export markets. With China (350,000 m³), Germany (340,000 m³), Estonia (315,000 m³) and France (305,000 m³), four other countries bought more than 300,000 m³ of Finnish softwood lumber. However, Estonia was the only foreign market in that group to record an increase (+17%).
