Further decrease of $200 in the US?

Madison’s Lumber Reporter reports a 2-by-4 price (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) of US-$684/1,000 bft on July 29. Compared to the previous week, the price has thus remained unchanged. With a currency exchange rate of US-$1.02/€ at the time, European suppliers earned €433/m³ (actual size) as before.

Analyses, such as the one by Russ Taylor (see article US Market To Cool Down), as well as the Lumber Futures for September, which are traded at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, indicate falling prices in the coming weeks. The Lumber Futures, for example, are exactly US-$200/1,000 bft below the current level, at US-$483.2 for Random Length Lumber in September. Based on the current dollar-euro exchange rate, that would be €306/m³ for European suppliers.
