Ziegler Group continues its massive investment and acquisition program. On May 11, representatives of the Ziegler Group, Profura AB and BA-XAB AB signed the purchase agreement for the two Swedish sawmills, to be precise for the sawmill companies Balungstrands Sågverk AB and Bäckebrons Sågverk AB which are headquartered in central Sweden.

According to Ziegler Group, the two production sites in northern Europe open up new possibilities when it comes to purchasing and sales and allow the company to expand its existing product range to include high-quality Nordic softwood. The two sawmills currently have a processing capacity of around 700,000 m³ of logs a year on a total of 35 ha of premises.

Ziegler Group is currently in 19th place of Europe’s biggest sawmills with a lumber production of around 1.2 million m³ in 2022. Thanks to the acquisition, Ziegler will become the number 15 in Europe. After the closing, the company will produce around 1.6 million m³.
