In 2021, Moelven’s operating profit amounted to €300 million (NOK 3 billion). In the year before, it had been €65.9 million. “The company’s earnings of recent years have created an opportunity for further growth and development. The decision has been made to complete important development projects, such as the two Swedish sawmills Moelven Edanesågen and Moelven Valåsen, and more are planned. In 2021, the world market couldn’t get enough of wood products and this affected demand. I am proud that we managed to maintain our activity level and ability to deliver both in Norway and internationally, despite low stock levels and considerable uncertainty as a result of the coronavirus pandemic,” Moelven’s CEO Moerten Kristiansen explains.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, Moelven was able to increase its sales by 19% compared to the same period of 2020 to €360 million. This means that both the quarterly and the annual result were the best in the company’s history. “Prices on the international market fell slightly in the fourth quarter of 2021, but stabilized towards the end of it. In Scandinavia, trade in construction products was slightly weaker in the fourth quarter than in the corresponding period of 2020. The market situation in glue-laminated timber, building modules and system interiors businesses is stable,” Kristiansen informs.
