From January to September, Russia exported 22.5 million m³ of softwood lumber. According to the Russian customs authorities, this is a decrease of 5% or 1.25 million m³ compared to the same period of last year. It has to be mentioned though that in the first three quarters a new record was set with exports totaling 23.8 million m³.
12 million m³ (-12%) were exported to China in the first nine months. Shipments to Uzbekistan fell by 20% to 1.67 million m³, while those to Azerbaijan rose slightly by 2% to 800,000 m³.
Double-digit increases were recorded in softwood lumber exports to Estonia (779,000 m³; +44%), Egypt (752,000 m³; +13%), Great Britain (459,000 m³; +30%) and Germany (607,000 m³; +26%).
