US prices slowly rising again

In week 38, Madison’s Lumber Reporter identified a 2-by-4 price (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) of $510/1000 bft, which is a $30 increase within one week.

European exporters currently earn €281/m³ (free Great Lakes region; actual size), i.e. €17/m³ more than in the week before. The current price is still €231/m³ lower than the one reported last year. However, there seems to have been a definite trend reversal. In the past eight weeks, an overall increase of nearly €70/m³ has been recorded.

The futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange indicate a price of around $630/1000 bft in November. With the same conversion as above, that would be approximately €345/m³ for 2-by-4.
