Exports to Italy fell by 22.6% to 873,000 m³. A negative development was also recorded in Germany (414,000 m³, -5.7%), Slovenia (253,000 m³; -8.9%) and Japan (110,000 m³; -21%). According to Statistik Austria, Austrian exports to the US grew by 21% in the period January to May, bringing the total to 94,000 m³.
Since the sharp decline in March due to the corona pandemic, exports have started to increase again in April. In April last year, they were at 528,000 m³. In the same month of this year, the total was only 362,000 m³, which is a year-on-year decrease of 27%.
