Fewer softwood sawn timber exports

With a total of 14.79 million m³, Russia saw its softwood sawn timber exports (incl. planed timber) decrease by 4% year on year. This is according to data published by the Russian customs authorities. Main customer China received 9 million m³ in the period January to June. Compared to last year, this corresponds to a 7% decline.

Exports to Uzbekistan (1.1 million m³; +3%) and Azerbaijan (528,000 m³; +20%) increased compared to the first half year of 2019. Kazakhstan also received more softwood sawn timber from Russia (434,000 m³; +38%). Volumes shipped to Japan remained more or less stable at 512,000 m³ (-1%), while a marked decrease was recorded in exports to Egypt (413,000 m³; -34%).
