In April, export sales of Finnish producers of wood-based products amounted to € 0.89 billion. In the first four months of 2020, sales fell by 18% year on year to € 3.39 billion. In the same period, exports of wood processing companies declined by 23% compared to 2019, reaching a value of € 0.72 billion. According to the Natural Resource Institute Finland (Luke), the Finnish pulp and paper industry reported a 17% decrease and overall export sales worth € 2.67 billion.
In April, 1.11 million m³ of wood products were imported. From January to April, timber imports rose by 11% year on year to 4 billion m³. 75% of the timber imported in April came from Russia, 11% from Lithuania and 9% from Estonia.
