Sawn timber exports slightly up

Sawn timber exports (including planed timber) amounted to 5.71 million m³ in the first eleven months of 2019. According to Statistik Austria, this corresponds to an increase of 2% year on year.

Exports to Austria’s main foreign market, i.e. Italy, were stable (2.49 million m³; +1%). 996,000 m³ (+2%) were sold to Germany. Deliveries to Slovenia amounted to 629,000 m³ (+5%). Exports to Japan fell by 3% year on year and reached 275,000 m³.

In relative terms, softwood sawn timber exports to China saw the most marked increase of 51% to 71,000 m³.
