With a total of 22.9 million m³, softwood lumber imports to the US between January and August dropped 5% (-1.1 million m³) compared to the same period last year. In general, the decline is due to decreased imports from Canada. The northern neighbor sold 20.8 million m³ of softwood lumber to the United States which is 5% or 1 million m³ less.

Amongst all top 10 destinations, only two countries could boost deliveries: Germany supplied 686,000 m³ to the US which is 9% more than during the same period last year. Czech deliveries increased by 7% (+195,000 m³).

All other countries registered declines to the US between January and August compared to 2018 – like, for instance, Austria (129,000 m³; -13%).
