With 5.49 million m³, Finland exports of softwood lumber including planed goods gained 4% between January and July compared to the same period in 2018. Finland was able to further boost deliveries to its top destinations: Egypt bought 958,000 m³ of Finnish softwood lumber which is an increase by 21%. Another +21% were reported for China (835,000 m³), as data by Finnish Customs indicate. A slight increase was registered for exports to Great Britain totaling 538,000 m³. Softwood lumber exports to Saudi Arabia more than doubled: 265,000 m³ equal a plus of 111%.

Exports to Japan, on the other hand, declined by 6% (518,000 m³), and to Germany -3% (298,000 m³).

With this, Finland was able to almost match the level of 2017 and considerably exceed the figures of 2016 and 2015. You can find detailled figures and statistics in our Datacube. You don't have a subscription yet? Click here to enter our subscription shop.
