The outlook for the British lumber market is surprisingly positive. Nick Moore from Timber Trends forecast increasing softwood lumber imports for 2019 at the softwood lumber conference by the Timber Trade Federation (TTF). However, a prerequisite for this development is the closing of the Brexit deal with the European Union, internet platform ttjonline.com reports.
According to Moore, this year's British softwood imports will increase 1.7% to 6.7 million m³ and consumption will gain 2.7% to 10.3 million m³. He expects British softwood lumber production to increase by 4.1% to 3.8 million m³.
