Almost 600,000 m³ less exports

Finland exported 8.07 million m³ of softwood lumber and planed goods from January till November 2018. Compared to the same period last year, the volume therefore dropped 7%, as Finnish Customs reports. In terms of top destinations, there was a shift: Deliveries going to Egypt increased 5% to almost 1.22 million m³. With this, the MENA country becomes number one amongst Finnish export nations and overtook China. Exports to China plummeted, losing more than one third: -39% to 1 million m³. Algerian purchase volumes also stand out: With an increase of +118% to 479,000 m3, its Finnish imports almost doubled.

Deliveries to Great Britain remained stable (848,000 m³; +1%). Concerning exports to Japan, the exports volume lost 7% totaling 837,000 m³.
