With an export volume of 5.06 million m³ of softwood lumber including planed goods until the end of October, Austria yielded the largest volume of the past years. Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 10%, as preliminary data from Statistics Austria indicate. Since September, South Korea has been ranking amongst Austria's ten largest export countries - and with 64,000 m³, its purchased volume increased by 50% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Austria was able to sell more softwood to almost all important destinations - to Italy, for instance, a total of 2.23 million m³ or 1% more. Germany received 878,000 m³ (+7%) from its neighbor, Japan bought 258,000 m³ (+7%). An enormous increase rate was registered for the United States with +400% to 157,000 m³. Via Slovenia (port Koper), 536,000 m³ were delivered to North Africa which is 35% more than during the same period in 2017.

Among the top 10 destinations, exports until the end of October were declining to Croatia (155,000 m³; -5%) and Czech Republic (112,000 m³; -10%).
