Between January and October, the US imported 30.16 million m³ of softwood lumber. Compared to the same period last year, the volume remained stable (+1%). With a total of 27.34 million m³, Canada delivered roughly 700,000 m³ (-2%) less to its neighbor.
A significant increase was observed for deliveries from Germany (842,000 m³; +82%), Brazil (430,000 m³; +45%) or Sweden (368,000 m³; +26%). Austria delivered 201,000 m³ which is almost four times the amount of lumber that the US imported last year (+290%).
Imports from Chile dropped by 14% to 254,000 m³, as FAS data indicate.
