A plus of US-$14 lead to yet another all-time high of US-$654/1000 bft. With a stable exchange rate (US-$1.2/€), European suppliers by now already receive around €352/m³ (free Great Lakes region), or about €300/m³ ex German factory. The current level is almost €70/m³ higher than last year's level or almost three times as high as the price level of crisis years 2008 and 2009. Back then, 2-by-4 was sold for around €120/m³ over the reference period.

The price rally is demand-fueled. The house construction sector in the United States is booming and Canada is supplying lower volumes than usual. In a climate like this, also Random Lengths' average price index for construction timber reaches a record level.
