Finland produced more lumber

The lumber production in Finland gained more than 4% last year amounting to 11.9 million m³. The main type of wood is spruce with 6.2 million m³. Domestic lumber demand rose as well to a total of 3.8 million m³. This equals a per-capita consumption of 0.7 m³, as Luke informs.

Last year's pulp production totaled 7.7 million t (+3% compared to the previous year). Paper production, however, has been decreasing since 2011. In 2017, the volume reached a level of 6.7 million t (-2% compared to 2016). The cardboard sector saw a production record of 3.6 million t (+9).
