After 40 layoffs last year, cost-cutting measures at Metsa Wood UK might cause another 22 jobs to be cut at Metsä’s saw and planing mill in Grangemouth in Scotland. As a result of a strategic review of all the company’s operations within the UK, the “production capacity of the Grangemouth operation will be relocated to the company’s plants in Boston, Widnes and Kings Lynn. Grangemouth will continue to operate as a key distribution hub from which Metsa Wood products will be supplied to customers in Scotland and the North of England”, falkirkherald.co.uk cites a Metsä spokesman as saying.

Final decisions on the planned move are said to be announced in December.
