The management of the Klenk Holz group, Oberrot/DE, has announced their restructuring plans to the employees now that the company has been acquired by the Carlyle investment fund. According to these plans, the workforce in Oberrot is to be reduced by 80 people, including 13 in the administration, Südwestpresse newspaper reports. In 2012, the group had employed over 1,100 employees at the locations in Oberrot, in Baruth/DE and Wolfegg/DE.

The investment that had already been announced upon acquisition the Klenk management specifies as amounting to € 20 million. Around one third of the sum will go into upgrading outdated equipment at the Oberrot plant. Klenk Holz also intends to phase out production of pallet blocks as soon as a supply contract with an unnamed Munich-based company is fulfilled soon, it was explained.

According to the local newspaper, a division of the limited company lies in the air. After a divestiture, certain parts might be easier to resell, a speaker of the management insinuated. At present, neither the management of Klenk Holz nor that of the Carlyle Group was willing to give any comments on the issue.
