The British sawmilling group BSW Timber, Earlston/GB, have started up the new saw line in their Scottish mill in Fort William/GB. In early April, the first logs were cut on the HewSaw SL250 3.4-sawing line designed by Veisto, Mäntyharju/FI. The sorting plant was installed by Kallfass, Baiersbronn/DE. BSW Timber spent £ 37 million (€ 43.4 million) on the new Veisto-/Kallfass-line which is to produce 300,000 m³ of softwood lumber a year.
The new sawline is part of a £ 50 million-(€ 58.6 million) investment program. This is the amount BSW Timber has budgeted for upgrading their sites until 2015 .
