A sum of RUB 9.3 billion (around €120 million) was invested into the plant, which will have an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons of base paper, 17,100 tons of décor paper and 150 million m² of impregnated paper.
The carrier paper is mainly used for the production of coated MDF/CDP boards. 150 jobs have been created.
Owner Peter Kaindl is quoted as saying, according to Interfax: “Kronospan has no intention of exiting the Russian market and is considering the possibility of further investments.” Kaindl is a director of Kronospan Holdings East Ltd (he manages Kronospan’s Russian business).
In Russia, Kronospan operates production sites in the Bashkortostan, Penza, Smolensk, Kaluga and Moscow regions and plans to build a logistics center in the Kaliningrad region, as Interfax reports.
