US construction starts declined

With a decline of 11.2% to 1.07 million units in December 2018, US construction starts were significantly lower than expected.

The forecast anticipated a decrease by only 0.5% to an annual rate of 1.25 million units. In the previous month, the predicted annual rate had still been 1.256 million units.
