Sonae Indústria, Maia/PT, has announced that its German affiliates GHP GmbH and Tool GmbH intend to embark upon negotiations with trade unions regarding the reduction of the particle board production. This would affect the Glunz operation in Horn-Bad Meinberg/DE and up to 250 jobs. According to lz.de, there are fears that the site is stripped of its "center piece" and only the production of laminates, HPL-sheets, worktops and electricity will continue at the location after January 2014.
Meanwhile, Sonae Indústria affirms in a company statement that it would "concentrate production in our more efficient and profitable plants".
