Exporters trying to reduce beech purchase prices by €10/m³

The 2026/2027 hardwood log season is slowly gaining momentum in Germany. Chinese retailers and processing companies are interested in beech log deliveries. However, this is not yet reflected in attractive sales prices in China. Shipments to India come at high freight rates. In Germany, beech harvesting has begun for one large sawmill. Forest owners fear that the heat has damaged beech trees. Northern German companies are benefiting from demand from Denmark.
