As you can see in the Datacube, Germany’s 2025 softwood log exports more than halved compared to the record year of 2020 (over 12 million m³). For comparison: In 2015, softwood log exports had totaled 2.6 million m³.
Last year, Germany exported just under 2.3 million m³ of softwood logs to Austria. Compared to 2024, this corresponds to a 13% decrease. Deliveries to the Czech Republic also decreased considerably, by 34% to around 511,000 m³. Shipments to China plummeted by 66% to 368,000 m³. In 2020, Germany had still exported more than 6.1 million m³ of softwood logs to China. Volumes sold to Poland also more than halved (-53% to 135,000 m³).
Meanwhile, bigger volumes of softwood logs were exported to Belgium (+5% to 829,000 m³), Luxembourg (+16% to 291,000 m³) and France (+43% to 192,000 m³), as figures published by Destatis show.
